This year, 30,000 additional American troops will be deployed to Afghanistan despite the fact that the U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan expressly opposed troop escalation in two strongly worded cables sent to the White House in 2009.
The White House ignored his warnings and sent troops anyway.
As the House Armed Services Committee begins to write the Defense Departments budget for 2011, we urge its members to read Eikenberrys memos. HASC members should write strong language into the 2011 Defense budget that requires the Pentagon to begin withdrawing our troops by July 2011.

So let's get this straight: A President gets conflicting options; has the responsibility to weigh each on its merits; and then be the DECIDER (as ONLY PRESIDENT CAN) of which option is most favorable.
What's the big deal?
Even if so-called Pentagon Papers come out later, it will mean not a god damn thing; because Obama was fairly open.
An ambassador is ONLY ONE OF MANY advisers!
As for this relatively 'lowly' ex-State Dept employee, he is obviously filled with his imagined 'over importance'.

I am politically conservative, and I now believe that Llberals inside America are our biggest enemy. That being said, we still have Muslim groups trying to get a hold of a suitcase nuke, and blow up one of our cities. I want to stay on offense, and win in Afghanistan. The men in the video SEEMED to imply that we had to nation build in order to KEEP Muslim terrorists from taking over that nation. Is this true or not?

@sirjames45 history says it's next to impossible to win in Afghanistan. They've been in some state of civil war for the last thirty years with no real sign that anything will change soon. In a few short years our occupation of Afghanistan will be longer than the Viet Nam war. The war in Afghanistan will most likely end the same time liberals and conservatives stop blaming each other for everything. The world is unfortunately not black and white, good vs evil etc...

There were no "weapons of mass destruction." The wars abroad are illegal and must end. We must switch to green energy: solar and wind, not try to prop up an oil-based economy. If you asked American mothers whether or not they wanted their sons and daughters to DIE fighting over oil rights in the middle east, we'd never have started either war. Enough people have died over 911. Violence begets more violence, and we have no right to be on foreign soil.
